Avnon Academy was proud to host an international event in Avnon Group’s headquarters in Kfar Saba, Israel, featuring Ambassadors and high-level diplomats from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. The event focused on the importance of professional training in technology and cyber security, as presented by Lt. Gen. (ret.) Moshe (Bogie) Ya’alon, Former IDF Chief of Staff and Defence Minister.

Cybersecurity and the Iranian threat

In his speech, Ya’alon spoke about the national significance of cybersecurity and facing the Iranian threat, saying that Israel is making every effort to be “one step ahead of its enemies”.
Regarding whether Israel has effectively weakened Iran’s intelligence and cyber capabilities, Ya’alon said, “The best evidence is the Iranian attitude to the issue. They claim that their intelligence apparatus has been ‘penetrated’, and the dismissal of the head of intelligence Hussein Tayeb is proof of this. The claim that he was fired over Iran’s failure to attack Israeli citizens in Turkey is true. Still, it seems to be the final ‘straw’ that broke the leadership after a series of failures in the cyber and intelligence fields”.

“A very long struggle”

On whether the recent attacks have undermined Iran’s standing on the nuclear agreement, the former defence minister said, “This is a very long struggle on Israel’s part that has been going on since the 1990s. The fact that they are paying the price for their attempts to move forward with the nuclear program affects their position”.

Israel as a leading cybersecurity power

Avnon Academy was delighted to share its expertise and knowledge in cybersecurity. We lead a series of projects to assist governments worldwide in increasing their level of coordination among the academy, public sector, and businesses.
